Brewery or Beer Museum in Bruges: Which Experience Should You Choose?
Updated October 25, 2026 · 4 min read
Choose the Bourgogne des Flandres brewery visit if you want to see a working brewery and distillery. It costs €16, has a 4.4 rating from 418 reviews and includes an audio-guided visit followed by a beer. Choose the Bruges Beer Experience if history, ingredients and an interactive museum matter more; it starts at €14 and the tasting is optional.
The practical difference
| Experience | From | Rating | Main focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bourgogne des Flandres brewery | €16 | 4.4 (418) | Brewing site, distillery, audio tour and beer |
| Bruges Beer Experience | €14 | 4.4 (238) | Belgian beer heritage and interactive exhibits |
The brewery is on Kartuizerinnenstraat in the historic centre. Its own website advises allowing about 1 hour 15 minutes and recommends booking in busy periods. The bar and waterside terrace can be visited separately. Parts of the historical tour route have steps, so visitors with reduced mobility should contact the brewery beforehand; staff say they can adapt the route.
Tasting is not the whole visit
At Bourgogne des Flandres, the €16 “Discovery” ticket includes one tasting, while a €13 dry visit is also listed by the brewery. The Beer Experience separates the museum from an optional tasting. These distinctions make both places workable for a mixed group, but verify the precise ticket selected rather than relying on a tour title.
Children under 12 can enter the brewery visit free with an adult according to the operator, while a paid teen ticket covers ages 12–18 without a drink. Alcohol rules and ticket bands can change; the booking page is decisive. Neither experience should be treated as a pub crawl.
Which is worth it?
The brewery is the stronger choice for process, equipment and a specific Bruges beer made on site. The Beer Experience is better for a broader introduction to Belgian styles and ingredients, especially in poor weather. If you only want a drink, skip both tickets and choose a café.
